RFAA Emergency Welfare Fund

The RFAA Emergency Welfare Fund is set up for the benefit of members of the RFAA. In extreme and verified circumstances former members of the RFA Service may also apply to the fund for help. Grants or loans made from this fund will only be made to alleviate immediate hardship.

The fund will be held as a separate fund within the RFA Association accounts.

The fund will be set at a maximum of 5% of the Association’s available funds as declared on 31st December each year or an absolute maximum of £5000 and this will be the maximum amount of any grants and loans made in any one financial year. (1st Jan to 31st Dec).

RFAA MEMBERS

Grants or loans may be made, with the approval of the Board of Trustees, to members of the RFAA in distressed circumstances. In the case of loans they will be interest free and recovery set over an appropriate period. Such grants or loans are restricted to a maximum of £500 in each case. Bereaved families of deceased members suffering financial hardship may make an application to the fund for assistance with funeral costs or other lifestyle adjustments after bereavement.

Members of the RFAA wishing to seek a grant or loan, should in the first instance, get in touch with their local branch who will make an assessment of their circumstances and then pass details of the claim to RFAA HQ.

NON RFAA MEMBERS

Grants or loans to former members of the RFA Service who find themselves in distressed circumstances may be made at the discretion and approval of the Board of Trustees ideally when all other avenues of assistance are proven to be exhausted. Such grants or loans in this instance are restricted to a maximum of £250 in each case. Bereaved families of deceased personnel suffering financial hardship may make an application to the fund for assistance with funeral costs. Former members of the RFA Service seeking a grant or a loan should contact RFAA HQ who will consider their request.

Given the personal and private nature of those in distressed circumstances a Welfare Committee comprising of the Welfare Director, Chairman, and one other trustee TBD will consider applications and make a recommendation to The Board of Trustees. The Board’s decision on all grants and loans will be final.
