Tony Pitt writes:-

“I sailed with Peter when we took Sir Percivale to the Falkland Islands to assist in regaining same.  During this period, which was very testing, he proved to be very efficient, able to adapt to an ever changing situation and a tower of strength to the ship’s company and embarked force.  He was instrumental in the success Percy experienced during the campaign.  During one period of transition, from housing POWs from Goose Green, in San Carlos, to loading ammunition and equipment for the first resupply run to Teal Inlet, his efforts were appreciated by all.  For his exceptional conduct he was “Mentioned in Dispatches”.  Since ’82 we have held a Reunion Dinner, every five years, at Marchwood, our port of departure, and I’m sure all his shipmates who attend will be saddened by his passing and wish to offer their condolences to Pippa and his family
